In September We Celebrate Happy Healthy Cat Month

Did you know that there is month for celebrating your cat, as Happy Healthy Cat Month is in September? Keeping your cat healthy can be a challenge, but once you embrace a happy healthy cat, your life can be a lot of fun.

FRESH WATER

Make sure your cat has access to fresh water at all times. Water is an important nutrient to keep your cat healthy. After all, who wants a dehydrated cat during happy healthy cat month, right?

EAR CHECKS

Check your cat’s ears on a regular basis. Look for debris and an odor. If your cat has either of these two things going on in their ears, it’s worth making a trip to your vet. Don’t start digging around with a cotton swab, as you may do more damage than you set out to do.

DENTAL HEALTH

Take a look inside your cat’s mouth. Do you see swollen gums, clean teeth and have a scent of fresh breath? If so, your cat is healthy and good to go. Otherwise, a visit to your vet is in order. By catching gum and/or teeth problems early, your cat will lead a healthier life.

HAIRBALL ISSUES

Cats do eliminate hair balls on a regular basis and it’s not fun to watch or listen to. If it becomes an issue where they are not coming up easily or is an ongoing thing, it’s time to see your vet.

REGULAR BRUSHING

Want to keep those hair balls at bay? Brush your cat regularly, this way they will have less hair to digest while cleaning themselves. Decide on a quiet time to brush your cat and you will both be satisfied with the outcome.

When you make the time to take care and love your cat, your problems will be minimal. It’s important to have a positive relationship with your cat’s veterinarian, as you never know when you will need their services.
