5 Fun Summertime Activities For You And Your Dog

Summertime brings heat and humidity, but it also brings a fun time of year for outdoor activities for you and your dog. We have five fun summertime activities for you and your dog to do this summer. Keep us updated, as we’d love to hear if you do any of these activities with your dog this summer.

1.  Play In The Sprinkler. Every dog and owner love to get wet when the thermometer reads HOT!  What are you waiting for? This is fun and a great way to stay cool.

2.  Head Over To The Beach. The beaches here in Brevard County are mostly dog friendly. Pay attention to any signs before you enter the beaches, to avoid any unnecessary problems. The waves of the ocean, hitting your dog’s paws is one of the easiest ways to keep them cool and moving. And the other cool thing? You also get the exercise and the view that comes along with the beach.

3.  Play catch. Dogs enjoy chasing a ball around. They don’t always enjoy bringing the ball back, but hey, it’s a fun game to play. It’s a great way for you and your dog to get some exercise in the summertime. Engage in an activity like this first thing in the morning, or last thing before calling it a night. Heat stroke is not any fun for our dogs or us. Your dog will appreciate you taking the time to play.

4.  Go for a car ride.  If you happen to own a convertible, you have hit the  jack pot! Dogs love to stick their noses out of the car window and “sniff” the air. This makes for a perfect way to keep cool in the mist of the heat of summer.

5.  Learn new tricks. You know that saying, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks?” Well, in this case, we beg to differ. You can teach your old dog new tricks! If you are struggling to come up with ideas, enroll in a class. Your dog will appreciate it, and you will enjoy the opportunity to work with your dog on a regular basis.

Summertime can be a fun time to get to know your dog. Get off the couch, get outdoors, and get moving! Your dog will thank you. These five fun activities for you and your dog this summer will bring lots of smiles to both of  you.
