Never Leave Your Pet In A Parked Car

This seems like something fairly simple, yet in all reality many people think it is OK to leave their pet in a parked car. People think, “It’s only for a minute.” Did you know that on an 85 degree day, the temperature inside a parked car, even with the windows cracked, can reach 102 degrees within 10 minutes? Be smart, take your pet with you or leave them home.

Offer Shade And Water

Your pet needs a cool place to lay while outdoors. Make sure there is a nice tree or shaded area that your pet can stay cool in. Make sure there is water nearby. Do not offer a dog house for your dog in the heat of the summer, that’s one of the hottest places for them to go.

 Keep Your Pet Groomed

Brush your pets often, as it can remove tangles that can seem to harbor heat for days on end. A well groomed pet, is simply a happy pet.

Offer A Cool Place To Lay

A mat that can be chilled offers a comforting place for your pet during the heat of summer. If your dog likes to lay in a special spot, dampen the area with cool water.

If you do want to keep walking your dog during the summer heat, take those long walks in the early morning or late evening. When the sun is beating down in the middle of the afternoon, the fun of any exercise is quickly taken away.

The smartest way to avoid accidentally locking your pet in the car, is to leave your pet at home while running errands. Give In-Home Pet Sitters a call at 321-794-4477 and they will take care of making sure your pet is safe and comfortable during the heat of summertime.
