Winter Pet Grooming

We’re still not clear of 2014’s coldest Florida nights, so we want to address pet grooming for the winter months. At In-Home Pet Sitters, we love a perfectly-coiffed pet, but we also want to make sure they’re warm and snuggly!

If you keep a grooming regimen that includes shaving your pet, never shave your down to the skin in winter. Breeds with longer coatsĀ needĀ the hair or fur to be warm during colder months. When you bathe your dog in January and February, be sure to completely dry him before taking him outside.

For short-haired breeds, you might need to add a coat or sweater with a high collar or turtleneck. Aim to cover the base of the tale to the neck. For many dogs, this winter wear is necessary to preserve their health. In Florida, we’re not quite that cold, but we do believe in pet accessories!

If you’re leaving town and want a qualified, caring Melbourne, Viera, or Palm Bay in-home pet sitter as an alternative to pet boarding, call us today. We’ll make sure your furbabies stay nice and toasty no matter what the weather!
