Five People Foods That You Can Share With Your Cat

Pets love people food. Both dogs and cats beg for a taste of whatever their humans are enjoying, regardless of whether it’s healthy for them to eat. The good news is that there are many foods that you can safely share with your cat. When feeding your cat people food, moderation is key. According to the Cornel College of University Medicine, a cat’s diet should never exceed 10-15% of treats.

So with this general rule in mind, feel free to spoil your kitty with small amounts of these people foods:

Cooked Or Canned Fish. Feel free to give your cat a taste of tuna the next time you whip up tuna fish sandwiches. Avoid raw fish, fried fish, and bones.

Cooked eggs. Unless your cat is allergic to eggs or overweight, little tastes of chopped-up cooked eggs are a healthy treat. On the other hand, raw eggs can lead to salmonella poisoning.

Melon: According to this Pawnation article, feeding your cat a little melon might help it stop chewing on your houseplants. Don’t forget to remove the seeds.

Lettuce: Dr. Eric Barchas mentions many cats seem to like lettuce, which is also a safe snack.

Mild Cheese: According to Dr. Jeffrey Levy, cats can enjoy small amounts of mild cheese or even cream cheese. Some cats become lactose intolerant as adults so start with a tiny taste to make sure it doesn’t cause diarrhea.
