Tips On Bathing Your Cat

Here are tips on bathing your cat. If you want to give your cat a bath, it’s best to  start them out with a bath at approximately four months of age or more. Trying to give an adult cat a bath, that has never had one; can be quite challenging. The adult cat will leap around in the bathtub and try to escape. Your cat may also try to scratch you. Many cat owners speak from experience on this topic and claim that adult cats will revolt, if bathing is new to their cat.

Should you choose to take your cat to the groomer for a bath, make sure they are certified. It’s ok to let someone else do it. Not every cat is up for a bath and cats are quite good at cleaning themselves. If your cat has fleas, you will need to address the issue as quickly as possible.

Should you choose to bathe your cat, sprinkle water over him. Do not run water directly on him or your cat will more than likely revolt. Rinse off any soap you use by splashing water lightly over him. Dry him off completely with several towels that you have rounded up.

Cats are generally good at keeping themselves clean and therefore; most of the time they do not need a bath. They will need a bath if they get dirty or have a lot of dandruff. You will also want to bathe a cat that has fleas. I would use flea dip, and or flea soap. Use mildly warm water for your cats bath and do not get his head wet.

Most importantly bathe your cat with warm water in a warm area. Let’s face it, you don’t like a bath with cold water in a cold area, do you? Your cat wants the same type of care that you have when you have a bath. Bathing your cat can be fun, so make the most of it and enjoy the moment.
